MTN Group Joins Global Coalition to Reach One Billion People

…focuses on driving green actions

MTN Group announced it has joined ‘Every Action Counts’, a new global coalition to connect experts in nature conservation and climate change with some of the world’s leading digital platforms, financial institutions and consumer goods firms.

The Green Digital Finance Alliance (GDFA), is hosting every Action Counts Coalition in strategic partnership with the Finance for Biodiversity (F4B) Initiative.

The network will creatively leverage technology and partnerships to enhance green awareness and green action of 1 billion green digital champions around the globe by 2025.

The MTN Group, in a statement, declared: “As we drive greater digital and financial inclusion, we recognise the importance of reducing our impact on the environment and balancing this to ensure more people are connected daily.

“We take a conservative approach to the use of energy, plastic, water and other resources through demand reduction, refurbishment, recycling and upcycling.

“For us, Every Action Counts enable us to offer our customers access to opportunities towards greener lifestyles and green job opportunities which can unlock the green economy across our markets. As part of Ambition 2025, we will continue to place Sustainability and ESG at the core of our business.”

On its part, the GDFA declared: “We will bring like-minded members together to experiment with new innovative business models that empower everyone to become a green digital champion.

“We will map best practices, match experts with coalition members and support practical experiments on the ground to scale nature positive and climate friendly actions.”
