These are interesting times indeed, for gadget freaks especially mobile phone and computer owners – for they no longer have to worry about losing their prized devices without compensation – as Yes Mobile, an innovative mobile phone retail chain has unveiled an insurance scheme for all phones and computers bought by its customers.
The company said this is in its bid to help deepen technology consumption in Nigeria.
Yes Mobile plans to deliver this in partnership with a leading insurance company, AXAMansard Insurance PLC.
Announcing this in Lagos, Yes Mobile CEO, Mr. Foluso Ogunwale explained that its customers are now able to enjoy insurance cover not only on the damaged screens of their mobile phones which is sometimes as high as 50 per cent of the original cost of the phone; but also provides insurance cover for phones damaged by liquid intrusion. This offering is described as the first of its kind in the Nigerian Mobile Phone Retail Space. And in its commitment to ensure all its customers benefit from this innovative service, Yes Mobile is offering complimentary Free Insurance on devices bought for 30 days.
After the expiration of the free insurance, he said customers can then pay the premium to have their phones insured for another six months and beyond. The premium rate, according to him, starts from N700 for phones between the price range of N0-30,000, while premium for phones in the price range of N30, 000-60,000 attracts N1, 400 premium. Phones from N60, 000 and above attracts N2,100 premium and the insurance covers skin damage and liquid damage on phones and computers.
In addition, Ogunwale disclosed that Yes Mobile is also providing improved spread payment plan for customers to purchase phones and make payment within a period of 6 months. This initiative is being executed in conjunction with a 3rd party partner firm – Page MFB. According to him, the spread payment plan offered by Yes Mobile promises to be fast in processing time and tailored to be convenient for customers.
“At Yes Mobile, we are driven by our conviction that customers deserve more value for money,” said the CEO, while noting that with Smart Phone penetration of just 30 per cent in Nigeria, Yes Mobile is committed to delivering more smart phones to customers through excellent customer experience; and innovative services added to the sales of its gadgets. “These initiatives will transform the mobile phone retail space significantly” he said.
