ZTE Wins 2015 China Data Centre Award

Chinese multinational telecommunications equipment and systems company, ZTE Corporation, has won the Excellent Modular Deployment Data Centre Award of the China Data Centre Standardisation Model Project for 2015.

The high profile award based on the standardisation is issued by the China Data Centre Committee (CDCC), and fully confirms the leading strength and outstanding contribution made by ZTE with respect to constructing data centre infrastructure. The award was won by ZTE through its China Unicom Pingshan Micromodule Data Centre.

The ZTE Pingshan Micromodule data centre is a 14,340m² new generation micromodule data centre constructed by ZTE. The IT equipment room of the project is constructed in new generation mode, which has 60 micromodules and nearly 1000 IT cabinets.

The average power density of the cabinets reaches up to 6.5KW, and its maximum density is 12KW. The centre is one of the largest data centres deployed in micromodule mode in China—it uses the latest technical solutions, such as in-row cooling, high pressure DC, and main power direct supply.
The construction of the centre was based on requirements for energy saving indexes and green technologies, and comprehensively considered issues with respect to technology, service development, and economic investment. The centre reduces energy consumption of the air-conditioning cooling and power supply system of the data centre, so that its PUE value is kept in the reasonable range value.

The greatest highlight of the data centre is the large-scale micromodule deployment, which displays the energy saving advantage of the micromodule data centre. The innovative element of the project is to use the in-row air-conditioning system between water cooling cabinets. In comparison to the dedicated precise air-conditioning system of the traditional equipment room, the air-conditioning system visually configures the cooling unit closer to the heat power to realise precise ventilation, improves the gas flow organisation, and provides the heat exchange efficiency at the end of cabinets.

It also reduces the cooling energy waste, improves the ventilation temperature of the cabinet, and at the same time realises the higher water temperature of the frozen water to improve the efficiency of the whole cooling system.

ZTE, as a leading communication equipment vendor and integrated solution provider in the industry, has accumulated multiple years of success experience in the data centre realm. Its data centre solution has features such as module-based, green and energy saving, cloud computing, and smart management, helping its customers to boost the investment return with respect to energy saving and emission reducing, rapid delivery, resource utilisation ratio promoting, innovation service profit gaining capacity, and refined operation.

A statement, ZTE with headquarters in Shenzhen, China, while announcing the award explained further that “in the future, requirements of the data centre will be classified according to different user scenarios. ZTE’s modular data centre, which is represented by the container mode, has advantages such as flexibility, rapid deployment, and green and energy saving.

“It is deemed to become the best solution welcomed by the customers, which can help accelerate the industry development. ZTE will continuously create innovation and transformation, set foot on the pipeline, grasp the terminal, develop its VAS cloud, make layout of big data, and constitute its core competence of the M-ICT.”
