BICSI, a global professional, non-profit association that supports the advancement of the Information and Communications Technology (ICT) through knowledge and skill advancement for individuals and businesses, in its continued effort to provide industry support is organising a one-day conference and exhibition for ICT industry stakeholders in Nigeria. The 2015 BICSI Nigeria conference slated for August 20th at the Muson Centre, Onikan, Lagos, is themed “IT/TELECOMS FOR NATIONAL GROWTH AND DEVELOPMENT” with the focus on how industry standardization and best practices can assist in Nation building.
According to a statement from the group, BICSI conferences provide amazing benefits and resources to help increase people’s knowledge, build their career and also provide growth for their business. “This event brings together attendees, exhibitors, Exhibit Hall visitors and guests from around the world seeking to enhance their knowledge of the information and communications technology (ICT) industry. BICSI conference delegates represent several aspects of the ICT and telecom industries. This gathering will afford participants and attendees to know more about 100G Testing, Fibre Inspection, Data Center, Codes & Standards etc. Also to share knowledge areas that encompass the design, integration and installation of pathways, spaces, optical fiber- and copper-based distribution systems, wireless-based systems and infrastructure that supports the transportation of information and associated signalling between and among communications and information gathering devices,” the statement reads.
The BICSI Nigeria Country Chair, Boye Oyerinde, in his remarks stated that “BICSI Nigeria in line with other global affiliates is drawing up a timely evaluation that will reposition the industry. Ayman Aboslema, the BICSI Middle East & Africa District Chair, asserts that “BICSI MEA district recognizes Nigeria not just as a leader of the West African region but as the Giant of Africa in spite of current challenges. Nigeria economic potentials will be better enhanced with the ICT Industry stakeholder’s embrace of BICSI standards which will further reinforce her global positioning as one of the fastest growing economies”

This assertion was supported by Price Waterhouse Coopers, a consultancy firm which stated that Nigeria’s economy is to grow faster than those of France and the United Kingdom by the year 2030.Nigeria is set to be the first African country with an economy larger than $1 trillion according to the latest projections from the U. S. Department of Agriculture.”
The event will play host to industry egg heads, BICSI members and non-members in the ICT industry with the aim to chart a renewed course for ICT practice in Nigeria. BICSI’s worldwide membership spans nearly 100 countries with nearly 23,000 ICT professionals, including designers, installers and technicians. These individuals provide the fundamental infrastructure for telecommunications, audio/video, life safety and automation systems.
