NCC, Facebook to Collaborate on Infrastructure Development

The Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) and Facebook are collaborating in a move to advance the expansion of infrastructures to fill connectivity gaps in Nigeria.

Delegates of the social media platform, which was led by Ibrahim Ba, met with NCC officials on Thursday January 23, 2020 to hold discussions. According to Ba, collaborations with NCC would result in infrastructure expansion in fibre connectivity, hence increasing the efficiency of doing business in the country.

Edeyemi Ogoh, NCC’s Deputy Director of Technical Standard Network and Integrity said that NCC’s stance is evident in its adoption of open access model (OAM) as well as licensing of infrastructure companies to deploy fibre to the hinterland of Nigeria. He also assured the Facebook delegation of NCC’s unwavering commitment to aiding the expansion of telecoms in Nigeria.
