Tecno and Jide Technology Showcase Remix OS

By SAMSON AKINTARO

A new exciting experience is brewing for Android users in Nigeria and the entire African continent as a top OEM in Africa, Tecno partners a Beijing-based company Jide Technology to deliver Remix OS, a brilliant mobile operating system described as an enhanced version of Android OS.

Remix OS developed by Jide Technology, a company founded by three ex-Google engineers, combines the familiarity and power of a desktop operating system with all of the apps in the Google Play Store. According to one of the developers, Jason Zheng ,  Remix OS 2.0 brings users the familiar desktop operating environment of traditional PCs and laptops and access to the entire Android ecosystem, making a highly productive Android PC work environment. “Simply put, Remix OS 2.0 fuses an intuitive desktop experience with Android, giving users a never-been-experienced-before access to traditional desktop functions like “Startup menu”, “bottom taskbar” and “ Advanced File manager” on their Android PCs. “Users can enjoy all the cool ‘work’ stuff they’ll normally do on their desktops now on android for instance, you can Ctrl C/ Ctrl V to copy and paste with the keyboard, Drag and Drop files between folders, even resize a work window with a toggle of the sides.  These are all desktop productivity now made astonishingly possible on Android PCs running Remix OS, Zheng said”

To kick off 2016, Jide Technology journeyed to the world’s biggest and most-talked about consumer electronics convention, CES, and unveiled Africa’s leading OEM vendor, Tecno, as a partner at its exhibition booth in Las Vegas. With this partnership, it is anticipated that Tecno may be unveiling a Remix powered flagship device soon.

Tecno is no doubt an established player in the Tablet PC segment of the Nigerian market, flagships such as Tecno  7C (Droidpad7) and TECNO 8H (Droidpad 8) recorded appreciable sales on release. The successes of these Tecno Droidpads now drive speculation that Nigeria’s mobile OEM giant could drop its latest Android-based pad (rumoured to be Driodpad 10 Pro II) in the first quarter of 2016.

Tecno Mobile a major mobile OEM vendor under the TRANSSISION Holdings umbrella have enjoyed successes in the DroidPC segments in the last two years of its shipment of android-base tablets to Nigeria and other African countries. A bold partnership with a pioneering android technology that will redefine productivity on Android PCs clearly shows an OEM major player consolidating its grip on the DroidPC segment.
